Groupon exhibited at the NRA show for it’s fifth consecutive year (my fourth consecutive year managing). NRA is the largest restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industry show with 2,170 exhibitors in 900+ product categories and 63,876 industry attendees.

Our 20’x40’ booth was located in the North Hall at the forefront of the Tech Pavilion. The theme of the booth for the show was, "Feed Your Appetite for Growth”. We highlighted our wide range of solutions including Local Deals, Reservations, Groupon To Go, Merchant Pages & Merchant Offers.

This show has grown tremendously in the 4 years I've worked on it. Up until last year we hadn't quite taken the action required to secure a solid booth placement. We had been in the back of the hall one year and another year and entirely different hall that had poor traffic.

This year, we hands down had the best booth on the show floor. While we kept the same number of leads (scanned badges) we increased our number of qualified leads by 600%.

Groupon helped welcome the James Beard Awards to Chicago. This year marked two important milestones for the prestigious event: celebrating it's 25th anniversary and the first year the Restaurant and Chef Awards Gala was help outside of New York!

During the awards gala, the chefs prepared their stations for a walk around tasting taking place immediately after the awards. Groupon sales reps walked around with carts distributing Chicago Style Hot Dogs, Goose Island Beer, Garrets Popcorn & water.

Groupon hosted a series of event at Soho House and I was struggling with how best to include our branding while keeping with the look of the beautiful space and decor. I found these marquee lights on Etsy and they were the perfect fit! I've used them at several events since!

Amaro & Vermouth Tasting Station

Pampering a couple PR agencies with manicures and massages by Cowshed Spa while tasting wines and snacking on passed appetizers! Quite the treat!

Industry Coaching by Step Up Chicago was a program developed by the City of Chicago’s Small Business Advisory Council (SBAC) to help entrepreneurs benefit from free industry-specific advice.

Groupon and Accion, an alternative lending organization that provided red and other business services to small business owners, partnered with SBAC to co-hosted an industry coaching event at Ignite Glass Studios on March, 10th.

As a co-host, Groupon provided 20 coaches at the event. The event was themed “Tech for Restaurants” with 75-100 operating and startup restaurants in attendance.

This event was a great opportunity to support the local community.
